I have started a new challenge... my wife and I have started taking Taekwondo classes. It's obviously challenging even for someone like me who has been lifting for many years. I'm in very good shape and I sure this is helping but my body is having to adjust to the new routine.
I'm really excited to see where I will be in the next 5 years but I'm in no hurry to get there. It's not about the belts or the titles. I enjoy the process of working hard and earning everything I obtain. I'm not a respecter of titles but I do respect results. Many people have black belts but they are not skilled practitioners of the martial arts. Many people who study martial arts are like some developers where they are only about the titles. They're only interested in becoming that "senior developer" or the "black belt".
What good is a title if you cannot perform at the level in which you struggled or works so hard to obtain? You can be called a senior developer but if you cannot perform as one then what good is the title. I'm only interested in become a black belt if I can perform as one. I have no doubt that just as my attempt to become the best lifter I can or at least that am willing to be.
It's going to be a fun trip down a road that is going to make me an even better Bobby. I'm going to continue to push myself and become epic!
